Thank you so much for the welcome, and thanks for all the work you've been doing on ga.wikti, too :) I'm caught up in some serious issues on en.wiki right now but soon as I'm done, I'll put some work in over here, copyedit the ''Gaeilge'' and add words and templates, etc. Beir bua, a chara! - [[Utilizaire:Alison|Alison]] 27 de gen 2008 a 12:24 (UTC)

== Aranese in the English Wikipedia ==

Hi,

I advise you to read this article in the English Wikipedia: [[:w:en:Wikipedia:Avoid peacock terms|Avoid peacock terms]].

It is much better for an encyclopedic article - and for the Occitan language - to explain why Aranese is the most important player in the Occitan sphere, than to just state it as an opaque fact. That's why i deleted that sentence, even though i strongly support regional languages. Instead, i put in all the facts that i know about Aranese, mostly about the published books.

How do you know that it Aranese the strongest player? Did anyone tell you that? Is it a conclusion at which you arrived yourself? You need to write it.

I am not really familiar with the publications, people and organizations that you mentioned on my talk page, but i'll assume that they are correct and relevant.

And yes, the dictionary is good. The printing quality is great and it has interesting information about dialects, grammar etc.

I want to put it to use, too. If you can recommend me good literature to read in Occitan, i'll gladly read it. A collection of short stories, or a short novel (150 pages or so), would be best. If i can read it online, it would be nice, but i don't mind ordering a printed book if the shipping is not terribly expensive. So, who is the Occitan Chekhov? :)

I also study Linguistics, and i plan to write a big paper about Romance languages next year. I want to explore some grammar feature, maybe clitics, or auxiliary verbs, and compare its usage in various Romance languages. I want to include Catalan and Occitan in that paper, because there's much more research about French and Italian, so that would be something new. --[[Utilizaire:Amire80|Amir E.
